Alumni Updates


Angela Celeste May (MA 1994) published a book in 2009 based on her thesis research called Freedom: What Is The Experience of Living Without Negative, Self-Imposed Limitations? This October she is conducting a five week series on “Five Steps to Freedom: Tools to Unlock Your Full Potential” at the Southfield Campus of Oakland Community College.


Betz King (MA 1998, PsyD 2006) is showing her original ofrenda,“Ofrenda de mi perra,” in The Detroit Institute of Arts’ Ofrenda Altars Exhibit held this October 24 through November 2, 2014. An ofrenda, or offering, is an essential part of the traditional Mexican Day of the Dead (Día de los muertos) holiday, a day to remember and honor the memory of deceased loved ones. Dr. King will discuss her ofrenda in a public artists’ talk on November 2nd at 2:00 PM.


Sally Palaian (PsyS 1989) is now a Certified Daring WayTM Facilitator Candidate offering individual and couples psychotherapy in her office in Bingham Farms, Michigan as well as telephone and Skype sessions.  Dr. Palaian is also the developer of Love Builder, an iPhone and Android application that creates opportunities for couples to work together to improve their relationship, and the author of Spent:  Break the Buying Obsession and Discover Your True Worth (2009).


Simone Jennifer Smith (MA 2009) is the founder and Director of Hear 2 Help, a learning development company that assists students with school and life stresses.
