MA Licensure

The programs at MSP follow the practitioner-scholar model where academic knowledge and scientific research is applied in clinical and professional experience. The educational and training programs prepare students to obtain licensure for employment in a clinical setting.

For a Michigan license, applicants are required to have a criminal background check as well as answer additional questions relevant to eligibility for the professional practice in psychology. Students should be aware of the detailed licensure application information that may be obtained from the website for the State of Michigan, Board of Psychology.

Graduates of this accredited program are eligible to apply for the Temporary Limited License in Psychology (TLLP) in the State of Michigan. After successfully completing 2,000 postgraduate hours of supervised clinical experience, and passing the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP), graduates may apply for the Permanent Limited License (LLP) at the Master’s level.

For licensure out of state or country, it is incumbent upon students to research the requirements of specific states in which they wish to practice.

Graduates who complete the ABA Certificate or the ABA concentration during the MA program are also eligible to sit for the international exam to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). For more information about BCBA licensure, please visit ABA certification.
