Library and information technology staff are available in person as well as by phone, email, and fax during all hours of operation to promote the full use of academic resources. Formal and informal communications about services take place during student orientation and throughout the year in both face-to-face and written form. Face-to-face interactions include personal and classroom instruction. Staff members provide instruction to enable students to locate information resources and to evaluate those resources for appropriateness and quality. Staff members are committed to building the skills of information discovery and use that will serve students throughout their careers. The Moustakas Johnson Library provides instruction for students in the use of various library resources, including reference books and bibliographies relevant to psychology, the use of library catalogs, online databases and Web links. Individual and group instruction is also given on topics such as conducting searches using key words and subject terms, evaluation of information on the Web, ethical and responsible searching/researching, and basics on writing literature reviews.
There are several ways to get help:
- visit the Circulation Desk and ask for reference help;
- call the Circulation Desk at 248.476.1122, ext. 114;
- schedule a personal consultation with the librarian;
- ask a question and receive a response via e-mail or phone.
Faculty may request an instruction session for their classes by contacting a librarian. Librarians will prepare targeted or assignment-based library instructions to meet specific research or information needs.
Sessions should be booked at least two weeks in advance.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
